We are mandated to address education challenges of the supported children and those in the community we serve. Due to this need, the organisation established Keilah Junior school having a nursery, preprimary and primary school with classes from baby class to primary seven to respond to ever growing demands of the vulnerable children who could not afford high fees required by other schools in the communities. The school has a total number of 199 pupil as of 2025 attending classes.
We provide all of them with morning tea and a hot meal for lunch. Furthermore, dinner for those children who cannot afford it at their homes.
We spread the word of God through Child discipleship sessions, conferences, daily morning and evening prayers and Sunday school fellowships.
Nursery primary school |
At keilah junior school (nursery and primary school), we offer creative and child-centred teaching methods. Which include phonics, group work, independent writing, games and individual child attention. We do use appropriate story books and reading schemes to both help our children with learning English and also to develop in them a love of reading.
“What is it like to go to school in Uganda?”
In Uganda, attending school is not , so many children stay at home. Those who do go to school may only be able to attend for a few years, resulting in primary classrooms where students’ ages range from 10 to 18. Government schools are often overcrowded, with as many as 100 to 200 students in a single class, usually sitting on the floor and taught by just one teacher.
In contrast, children under our support at keilah Junior school receive free education, healthcare, and welfare support. School attendance is generally high, and young pupils benefit from the help of teaching assistants.
